Justice League Snyder Cut Won't Get Sequel Or Change DCEU Plan
The long-awaited Snyder Cut of Justice League would not lead to any sequelae, nor to the future of DC Extended Universe.
Zack Snyder's Justice League (more commonly known as Snyder Cut) is said to have no sequelae or change the DCEU plan in the future. The story is now well known: Snyder was forced to leave production on the Justice League three years ago, and replacement director Joss Whedon abandoned much of Snyder's plans, many of which had lasting ramifications for DC Extended Universe. Since then, fans have called Warner Bros. to release the infamous Snyder Cut, and even if it seemed unlikely for a while, the multi-year campaign finally won last week: the Snyder Cut will head to HBO Max in 2021.
The current plan is for Snyder to complete his unfinished cut, with a budget of $ 20-30 million. The details of what Snyder should do are unclear, as many are unsure of how much Snyder had finished before leaving production. At the very least, the original Justice League stars would not shoot any new material outside of certain dialogue elements. In general, there are a lot of questions regarding the Snyder Cut and its release, like what comes next? Given that Snyder's original plan for the film would in fact have resulted in sequelae and changes within the DCEU, many have wondered if he would finally see all of these plans restored, or if he would just have this one film.
It looks like it will be the last, according to those from The Wrap. While discussing new developments in Snyder Cut on their weekly podcast, Umberto Gonzalez revealed that the Snyder Cut of Justice League is "basically one and over". He continued: "It's to ... close the loop, to finish the story. Maybe not the whole story, because he had like a plan of three to five images. But this towards Snyder, I will call it, will end with the Snyder Cut. Don't expect fallout for Batman or with Ben Affleck like Batman or whatever. "
Given how Robert Pattinson is about to face the Batsuit and Ben Affleck made his exit from the DCEU, it's not too surprising. However, this could confuse those who expected the Snyder Cup to effectively replace the Justice League theatrical cup in 2017. It goes without saying that the events of Snyder Cut could slightly influence future solo films, especially in cases Aquaman 2 and The Flash because they haven't been released yet. However, it looks like Zack Snyder's Justice League won't have many lasting ramifications for the future of the franchise, which has already seen a noticeable shift away from a connected universe format as it focuses more on stand-alone movies.
It also means fans probably shouldn't be hoping for Justice League 2 yet. Things rarely seem frozen in Hollywood, so Warner Bros. may one day change their mind and give Snyder the reins of the DCEU. At the moment, however, this does not correspond to their future plans, so it does not happen. It may be disappointing for some, but the fact that the Snyder Cut was released is really a big problem. Before everyone gets bogged down with future plans, it might be best to focus on what's to come. After all, Zack Snyder's Justice League is on the way, and that's a remarkable thing.
