agents of shield season 7
SHIELD agents will visit several periods of season 7 according to star Clark Gregg after the start of the last season in the 1930s.
Clark Gregg teases SHIELD season 7 agents who will be visiting multiple periods. As the first Marvel TV show to connect to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Agents of SHIELD has evolved in many different ways throughout its run. After facing the collapse of SHIELD, Inhumans, Ghost Rider, LMD and the future, the final season of Agents of SHIELD will take the main characters to the past. This was first reported in the Season 6 Finals when the team arrived in 1931.
The reason for the latest time travel story from Agents of SHIELD is that agents can try to prevent the alien race known as Chronicoms from going back in time and destroying SHIELD. It has already been established that this story will begin in the 1930s, but fans hope that other periods will also be explored since the team has access to time travel technology. The trailers for Agents of SHIELD season 7 focused mainly on early adventures, but some of the other periods have now been teased.
In a new interview with Variety, Clark Gregg - who plays a Life Model Decoy version of Phil Coulson in season 7 - was asked if SHIELD Agents could explore other points in the timeline. Gregg was ready to tease some of the parameters that Coulson and his SHIELD team would likely find themselves in, but didn't turn out to be too much.
Thanks to Gregg's comments, fans can now expect Agents of SHIELD to visit the 1950s and 1980s during the seventh season. He might even have slipped a little and confirmed that the inclusion of Enver Gjokaj as agent Daniel Sousa would come after the events of Agent Carter. If that is the case, then the agents of season 7 of SHIELD could solve the story of agent Carter thanks to the adventures in time. The decision to go in the 1950s and 1980s gave SHIELD agents a chance to explore various points in the history of SHIELD, as these parameters were probably not chosen by accident.
The 1950s weren't explored much in the MCU, but Peggy Carter was still alive and with the organization at that time, while Nick Fury was born during that decade. If the Chronicoms are trying to eliminate SHIELD, targeting one of them would be a great place to start. In the 1980s, SHIELD was already very active, Hank Pym and Janet van Dyne working with them, while leading agents of the series, including Daisy Johnson and Jemma Simmons, were born. This decade was also the decade when Hydra started experimenting on Jiaying, and the Kree took Carol Danvers. With so many possibilities from the 50s and 80s, it will be fascinating to see what Agents of SHIELD do during these different periods, as well as all the others that are visited.
